Ocean School is thrilled to participate in the 2024 SXSW EDU conference in Austin, Texas! Education Producer Heather Delagran, along with teacher advisory group members Melissa Dent from Lambton Kent DSB and Kira Janisse from Humberside Collegiate Institute, will showcase an exciting citizen science project.

Session Description
Is there plastic lurking in your salt? Find out in this hands-on workshop March 4th, at the SxSW EDU conference in Austin, Texas. In this workshop, you will walk away with a ready-to-use lab that will engage your students as citizen scientists. Then extend student learning with our Take Action Toolkit which is packed with classroom-ready activities to motivate and inspire students to be environmental change-makers. Finally, learn how you can use Ocean School—a free environmental education resource and official UN Ocean Decade action—to teach any subject through an ocean lens. Session suitable for formal and informal educators Grades 5-12.
