Join Ocean Week in celebrating Ocean Week in Halifax this June!

Join Ocean School at events throughout Ocean Week to celebrate our ocean playground! The 2024 theme for Ocean Day is "Waves of Change: Collective Actions for the Ocean." It's time to give back and show the ocean we care. Make your ocean promise at one of the events or virtually on our website.

Event 1: Jawsome Sharks

Teachers and students, dive into the captivating world of sharks with 'Jawsome! Sharks of Canada’s Coasts' featuring Alanna Canaran! Experience a virtual session where Alanna, a passionate science communicator and PADI scuba diving instructor, unveils insights about great white sharks in Atlantic Canada. Don't miss out on this jaw-dropping event!

Event 2: Ocean Day booth

Join Ocean School in Halifax at the Queen’s Marque to make a promise to protect the ocean! Explore The Ocean, Freshwater and Us giant floor map of Canada and walk across Canada’s waterways. Visit us to play a trivia game about Marine Protected Areas, experience 3D whales, and our interactive AR app.

  • When: June 8, 10am to 3pm

Event 3: Bottom Dwellers, A Deep Sea Musical

Bottom Dwellers: A Deep Sea Musical is an oceanic odyssey for all ages about a 400 year old Greenland Shark, ocean history, and how climate change is affecting the Atlantic from the top to the very bottom. Ocean School will be setting up an educational booth to make an ocean promise and encourage folks to get creative and make their own play about the climate.

Meet Alanna Canaran

Alanna Canaran is an ocean educator, science communicator and scuba diving instructor. She loves to explore the underwater world, and share her ocean knowledge and experiences with others. Find Alanna at Ocean School's booth at these Ocean Week events!
