A woman kneels on a giant floor map created by CanGEO for use with the the Ocean Week Canada augmented reality map. The map shows Canada's waters.

Ocean School has partnered with the Canadian Ocean Literacy Coalition (COLC) and Canadian Geographic Education to bring you the new Ocean, Freshwater, and Us Giant Floor Map and Augmented Reality (AR) experience for school communities.

This giant floor map and AR app allow you to connect with the ocean as you explore the Canadian coastlines and waterways and learn about efforts to protect them through immersive, multisensory self-directed inquiry.

Teachers around the country can book the giant floor map of Canada for their classrooms. This map can be used with the Ocean Week Canada app that includes immersive content from Ocean School as well as two video collections from Ocean Week Canada partners: Coastal Stories curated by the Students on Ice Foundation; and Indigenous Water Guardians, curated by the Indigenous Leadership Initiative, partners, and communities.

You can also experience the AR app on its own using your smartphone at home or in the classroom. You can download the app for Android or download the iOS app free of charge!

To familiarize yourself with the use of the AR app and learn more about the giant floor map, join the Giant Floor Map & Augmented Reality App Training Webinar, co-hosted by COLC, Canadian Geographic Education, and Ocean School on November 16, 2022 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM EST. Register now!
