Explore biodiversity with The Sustainability Compass

The Sustainability Compass is a powerful systems thinking tool that can help us uncover the complex factors affecting the health of waterways like the Saint Lawrence River. Explore an interactive case-study to learn about the health of the upper Saint Lawrence River ecosystem, and see how The Sustainability Compass can help us understand a sustainability issue from a systems thinking perspective. Systems mapping with The Sustainability Compass can help us unlock our sustainability superpowers, and find exciting ways to make change in our own communities!

Systems thinking: Students will select an environmental issue related to a local waterway and use a systems thinking tool to explore how different aspects of sustainability, such as nature, economy, society and personal wellbeing, are interconnected and affect the environment around us. At the end of the activity, students reflect on what actions can be taken to promote sustainable behaviour toward their chosen waterway.
