At Ocean School, we abide by the strictest Canadian laws in terms of privacy. We have developed this privacy and security policy to describe our specific privacy principles and practices and how we collect, use and disclose the information of those individuals who visit our website. If you are under the age of majority in the place where you live, please show this section to your parents or legal guardians.
We only request access to data that is needed to use the tools on Ocean School.

The following additional terms also apply to users of the Ocean School experience. In the case of discrepancy between the NFB Privacy Policy and the terms below, the terms below prevail.
What is personal information?
For the purposes of this privacy policy, personal information is any information about an individual who can be identified.
What information does Ocean School collect?
Ocean School does not store personal information about our users.
We do collect aggregate information, which is anonymous data that we use to help improve the quality of the website. We collect information such as your browser type (e.g., Firefox or Chrome) and device type (e.g., desktop computer or mobile device). None of this data is connected with personal information about you. The NFB analyzes this information to measure interest in and use of our website (for example, by counting the number of visits to a web page), to plan improvements, and to diagnose technical problems. Only anonymous aggregate information is used in these analyses.
What about links to other websites?
Our website may contain links to other websites or applications. These sites have their own privacy policies and may be subject to different privacy standards. We cannot assume any responsibility for the privacy practices, policies or actions of the third parties that operate these services. We do not receive any personal information about you from third parties. For example, if you share Ocean School content to Microsoft Teams, the Microsoft account ID that you use to log in will not be shared with us.
Ocean School is not responsible for how such third parties collect, use or disclose your personal information. You should review the privacy policies of these websites before providing them with your information.
What data is sent to Microsoft Teams when you click the Share to Teams button?
When you click the Share to Teams button, you will be asked to log in to Teams with your Microsoft account. Your Microsoft account ID and the URL that you want to share are sent to Microsoft so that you can share it in Teams. We do not receive any personal information about you from Microsoft Teams.

What data is sent to Google Classroom when you click the Classroom share button?
When you click the Share to Classroom button, you will be asked to sign in with your Google Workspace for Education account. When you sign in, your Google account ID and the URL that you want to share are sent to Google Classroom so that you can create a post in your Classroom. We do not receive any personal information about you from Google Classroom.

Can the information that the NFB collects about students be linked to a specific teacher, school and location?
We do not collect identifying information about students and cannot link a student to a particular school or location.
What are cookies and how does Ocean School use them?
A cookie is a small data file that is transferred to your computer's hard drive through your web browser when you access certain webpages or certain parts of a website. That file acts like an identification card that can only be read by the website that placed the cookie. Ocean School uses cookies to recognize you when you return to our Website so that we can offer you new content. We do not use cookies for any other reason. You can set your browser to disable these cookies. Please check the help documents for your browser to learn how. If you decide not to accept our cookie, you will still be able to access all pages of our website.
